Spared by the Adaptation: In the manga version of events, Pegasus punishes Bandit Keith's cheating with a fatal Penalty Game.Laser-Guided Karma: Despite pulling every underhanded trick he had to get Joey out of the tournament, Keith gets his butt handed to him in and out of the duel by not only Joey, but Pegasus as well.While Joey admits that it was the one Mai gave him, both he and Pegasus call Keith out on the cheat, questioning how Keith would even know in the first place. I Never Said It Was Poison: Keith slips up by claiming Joey's card for the finals entry wasn't his (Keith stole Joey's own card beforehand).Plus, since it brings the monster back before Keith stole Joey's Shield and Sword, it has enough power to deliver the final blow. It's subverted immediately after, however, as Joey uses his Graverobber card to copy Keith's Time Machine card and restore Red Eyes. It swaps the attack and defense points of both Red Eyes and Slot Machine, allowing Slot Machine to become stronger. Hoist by His Own Petard: Keith activates his "Pillager" card to steal one card from Joey's hand-namely, the Shield and Sword.Disney Villain Death: Pegasus delivers one to Keith via a Trap Door.A thoroughly unfazed Pegasus calmly says "Fine, one two three" and sets off the Trap Door that drops Keith into the ocean. Counting to Three: After losing to Joey and being literally dragged away by Pegasus' goons, Keith pulls a gun on Pegasus and gives him to the count of three to give him the prize money.Pegasus also states even if Keith hadn't stolen Joey's card, and hadn't lost the duel, he still would have been disqualified anyway for cheating during the duel, since Pegasus reveals he saw Keith hid his "7 Completed" spell cards. ![]() All this does is reveal to everyone that Keith stole Joey's real entry card, which Pegasus claims was obvious even beforehand, since Keith was so confident Joey wouldn't make it back before the time limit was over. He tries to get Joey disqualified, claiming the entry card he used wasn't his and thus the duel shouldn't count.He loses the duel to Joey despite cheating by hiding two of his "7 Completed" cards up his wristbands.Cheaters Never Prosper: This happens to Keith on multiple levels.In the dub, he just points at him while delivering his threat. Keith threatens Pegasus with a gun in the sub. ![]() Whereas in the original version, it's based on a revolver that deals with Russian Roulette, the dub changes it into a laser cannon to make it a more Family-Friendly Firearm.
